Customer Delivery Driver – Barnstaple Superstore

About the role

As the face of Tesco on the road, you will deliver customers’ grocery orders directly to their homes across Barnstaple and the surrounding South West England area. The role combines safe driving, customer interaction and physical handling of orders, offering a varied day‑to‑day experience.

Key responsibilities

• Keep the delivery van, trays and work area clean and organised to ensure orders arrive in perfect condition.
• Load the van safely, perform pre‑delivery checks and maintain roadworthiness.
• Communicate any order changes, substitutions or short‑dated items to customers in a friendly manner and process refunds when required.
• Handle products with care, treating each order as if it were your own.
• Deliver within the customer’s selected time slot, providing a warm, professional doorstep service.

Required profile

• Hold a valid UK/EU/EEA driving licence (full or automatic) for at least 12 months with no more than three penalty points.
• Ability to work independently for most of the day while staying connected with a supportive base team.
• Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing customer needs and shift patterns.

What we offer

• Hourly pay starting at £14.18, rising to £15.45 in certain locations.
• Minimum 16 hours per week (roles from 12 hours also available).
• 20 days holiday plus a personal day, increasing to 22 days after 12 months, plus Bank Holidays.
