Cyber Security Consultant – Hybrid (Up to £46,500)

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Consultant to join a non‑profit organisation in Greater Manchester. Working 35 hours a week in a 50 % hybrid model, you will support the security team in strengthening the organisation’s defences across a range of domains.

Key responsibilities

• Review, develop, monitor and mature SIEM, EDR, email security and vulnerability management platforms.
• Support IDS/IPS, detection and response solutions and other threat‑detection systems.
• Advise developers on secure SDLC practices and integrate security into project lifecycles.
• Perform vulnerability scanning, remediation and manage alerts from the managed service provider.
• Assist with Cyber Essentials certification and work with governance on ISO 27001/NIST compliance.
• Help manage third‑party risk and assurance activities.

Required profile

• Experience in a cybersecurity or infrastructure security role.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to document findings and engage stakeholders.
• Comfortable investigating incidents and proposing technical and procedural improvements.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with SIEM and vulnerability management tools.
• Knowledge of detection and response solutions such as EDR, XDR and MDR.
• Familiarity with IDS/IPS and email security gateway technologies.
• Understanding of IAM concepts and integration.
• Working knowledge of compliance frameworks ISO 27001, NIST and Cyber Essentials.
