Cyber Security Consultant – £40-52k DOE (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Cyber Security Consultant to join a growing consultancy in Portsmouth. The role involves working with clients in regulated sectors to assess their security posture and deliver practical, cost‑effective solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Understand client business drivers, threat landscape and risk profile.
• Assess cyber security maturity and produce improvement roadmaps.
• Identify, analyse and manage cyber risks at technical and business process levels.
• Review security controls, recommend proportionate improvements and conduct risk, site‑visit and threat assessments.
• Lead client interviews, investigations and produce high‑quality reports for technical teams and senior stakeholders.
• Apply recognised frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST and other best‑practice standards.
• Research security technologies and contribute to innovative solution development.
• Support business development by assisting with client proposals.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cyber security consultancy, GRC or information security assurance.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, architectures and technical controls.
• Hands‑on experience with risk management frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST or similar).
• Excellent written and verbal communication, able to present to technical and non‑technical audiences.
• Stakeholder management skills and experience in regulated sectors such as Defence, Government, Financial Services, Energy or Telecommunications.
• Ability to operate in high‑assurance or security‑sensitive environments.
