Cyber Security Engineer – Cloud Security & Automation

About the role

We are supporting a fast‑growing organisation that is expanding its cyber security capability. As a Cyber Security Engineer focused on cloud security and automation, you will work within a collaborative cyber team to protect cloud environments, improve detection and response, and drive automation across security processes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement security automation workflows to increase efficiency and reduce response times.
• Develop scripts and integrations using Python, PowerShell and APIs.
• Manage and optimise security tooling such as SIEM, EDR/XDR and monitoring platforms.
• Support secure configuration and governance of Azure, AWS and Microsoft 365 environments.
• Collaborate with IT, development and security teams to deliver secure‑by‑design solutions.
• Enhance threat monitoring, detection and incident‑response capabilities.
• Participate in threat‑hunting, investigations and continuous security improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to the secure adoption of AI‑enabled technologies and explore automation and machine‑learning opportunities.
• Monitor emerging threats and implement appropriate security controls.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cyber security, security engineering, cloud security or security operations.
• Strong knowledge of cloud security across Azure, AWS and/or Microsoft 365.
• Hands‑on experience with scripting and automation using Python, PowerShell or similar.
• Experience configuring and managing SIEM, EDR/XDR, Microsoft Sentinel, Defender, Splunk or CrowdStrike.
• Ability to integrate systems and workflows through APIs and automation frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Desirable experience in SOC, threat hunting, detection engineering or security orchestration.
• Familiarity with AI tools such as Copilot or large language models is a plus.
