Cyber Security Engineer – Hybrid, £50k-£60k

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Cyber Security Engineer to join our growing IT team in the North East. You will protect business systems, infrastructure and data while supporting security operations and embedding best practices across the organisation.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, investigate and respond to cyber security threats and incidents.
• Manage vulnerability remediation, patching and endpoint security.
• Implement and maintain secure cloud, network and endpoint environments.
• Support security governance, audits, compliance and reporting.
• Contribute to ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus and other recognised security standards.
• Collaborate with internal teams and third‑party suppliers to improve security controls.
• Promote cyber security awareness and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Cyber Security or Security Engineering role.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience with security incident response and risk management.
• Desirable certifications: Microsoft SC‑200, AZ‑500, SC‑100, ISC² SSCP, CCSP or CISSP.
