Cyber Security Officer (London)

About the role

Prospect is seeking a Cyber Security Officer to join its IT & Digital team in London. The role is responsible for safeguarding the union’s information systems, infrastructure and member data against cyber threats, ensuring compliance with security standards and supporting the organisation’s digital transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and continuously improve the IT security framework.
• Write and enforce security policies and procedures.
• Perform vulnerability management, including regular patching and remediation.
• Manage supply‑chain risk and oversee third‑party security assessments.
• Own the change‑management process for all cyber‑related implementations.
• Monitor, detect and respond to security incidents and emerging threats.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of hands‑on experience in cyber security.
• Strong understanding of security principles and recognised frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST and Cyber Essentials.
• Experience with vulnerability assessment tools and Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) platforms.
• Broad conceptual knowledge of IT systems, networks and application security.
• Desirable: ITIL certification and ISC² or equivalent security qualifications.
