Data Accountant (12-month Fixed-Term Contract)

About the role

The Data Accountant will join the Record‑to‑Report (RTR) function of Global Finance Services on a 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Based in Manchester, the role ensures the integrity, quality and continuous improvement of financial data and controls across the GFS operating model, while embedding AI‑driven and self‑service reporting practices.

Key responsibilities

• Execute and report on SOX journal testing, document results and drive remediation.
• Support the GFS controls framework, including CSA programme and control self‑assessments.
• Monitor month‑end reconciliation completion, report status to leadership and optimise automation with Intelligent Enterprises.
• Identify and escalate data‑integrity issues affecting financial reporting.
• Provide clean data extracts and process evidence for internal and external audits.
• Design, build and own the GFS actuals variance reporting suite for P&L and Balance Sheet.
• Create monthly P&L packs with cost‑centre analysis and exception commentary.
• Develop monthly Balance Sheet packs with ageing analysis and reconciliation status.
• Produce quarterly variance packs with trend analysis and narrative support for leadership.
• Build all reports to be self‑refreshing or one‑click refreshable using Power BI, Power Query or equivalent.

Required profile

• Finance professional with strong RTR knowledge and practical understanding of financial controls.
• Hands‑on experience of period‑end close, SOX compliance and data analysis.
• Demonstrable fluency in Power BI and AI tools.
• Comfort operating across multiple entities and communicating findings to a CFO‑facing audience.
