Data Center Controls Engineer (Ignition, SCADA, PLC, BMS)

About the role

Clear is working with an established Ignition, SCADA, PLC and BEMS integrator in the data centre space that is looking for a dedicated Data Centre Controls Engineer. The role is home-based with regular travel to data centres across London and the Southeast, in a fast-paced, mission-critical environment. It suits an experienced controls or BMS engineer who wants to grow in a dynamic, supportive team.

Key responsibilities

• Engineer and maintain SCADA and PLC systems in mission-critical data centre environments, including fault diagnosis and repair of Ignition-based front-end applications, PLC ladder logic and redundant communications protocols.
• Deliver expert BMS (Trend) and PLC maintenance, keeping systems running and compliant with customer and regulatory standards.
• Carry out site surveys and gather data such as software, graphics, containment and wiring layouts to support accurate work and smooth project delivery.
• Work with sales, delivery and R&D teams, turning client needs into control solutions and supporting pre-sales estimating, solution development and system optimisation.
• Provide customer-facing support, handling technical issues and complaints professionally and building long-term client trust.

Required profile

• Hands-on experience with PLC and SCADA systems, or a strong background in BMS engineering.
• Excellent communication skills, able to liaise with clients, sales teams and R&D.
• Highly organised and proactive, with strong problem-solving skills and a track record of working during unsociable hours when required.
• Customer-focused, willing to learn and able to build lasting client relationships.

What we offer

• Salary of 50,000 to 55,000 GBP basic, with overtime pay of 65,000 GBP and a bonus.
