Data Centre Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a proactive Data Centre Engineer to join our growing technology services team in Orpington. The role is field‑based, supporting the installation, maintenance and deployment of IT infrastructure across a variety of client sites and data‑centre environments.

Key responsibilities

• Install servers, switches, firewalls, storage and networking equipment into rack enclosures.
• Perform structured cabling, patching, labelling and cable management (Cat5e, Cat6, fibre).
• Support infrastructure deployments, hardware refreshes and data‑centre migrations.
• Troubleshoot hardware, cabling and network connectivity issues.
• Carry out rack builds, equipment replacements and infrastructure upgrades.
• Conduct site surveys, test installations and produce technical documentation, rack layouts and records.
• Update service tickets and collaborate with project managers, senior engineers and clients to ensure successful delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience working in data‑centre, server‑room or IT‑infrastructure environments.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to customer sites.
• Ability to work safely, efficiently and to a high standard in field settings.

• Backup technologies and ConnectWise (or similar)
