Data Engineer – AI-Powered Public Safety (Hybrid, London)

About the role

We are looking for a Data Engineer to join a stealth‑mode, venture‑backed AI company focused on public safety and law‑enforcement solutions. The role will be based in London with a hybrid working model and will involve building the data foundations that power advanced machine‑learning models.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and optimise scalable cloud‑based data platforms and pipelines on AWS.
• Develop robust ETL and ELT processes for high‑volume, complex datasets.
• Create and maintain data models, schema structures and reconciliation processes across multiple source systems.
• Implement orchestration frameworks using Apache Airflow and dbt.
• Build APIs from scratch to enable data access and integration for product features.
• Collaborate with AI engineers, ML specialists and software developers to support model training, testing and deployment.
• Automate monitoring, improve data quality, reliability and performance.
• Enforce security, governance and compliance controls for sensitive data.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience designing modern data platforms in AWS environments.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and take ownership of end‑to‑end data solutions.
• Eligibility for SC clearance (minimum five years continuous UK residency).
• Experience working in fast‑moving, early‑stage technology teams.
