Data Engineer – Azure & Microsoft Fabric

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join our growing data platform team in Manchester. Working in a modern Azure environment centred on Microsoft Fabric and medallion architecture, you will partner with analysts, architects, and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality, governed data products.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable ELT/ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Microsoft Fabric.
• Implement medallion architecture (Bronze/Silver/Gold) across the data platform.
• Build reliable ingestion from APIs, databases, flat files, and event streams.
• Support master data management, data‑quality rules, and golden‑record definition.
• Work hands‑on with ADLS, Azure SQL, Event Hubs, Delta Lake, and OneLake.
• Design integration patterns and REST APIs for near‑real‑time data flows.
• Contribute to infrastructure‑as‑code and environment provisioning in Azure.

Required profile

• Solid hands‑on data engineering experience, especially with pipelines, ETL/ELT, and data modelling.
• Strong experience with Azure Data Factory.
• Experience or strong interest in Microsoft Fabric (lakehouse and pipeline capabilities).
• Practical understanding of medallion architecture.
• Proficient in Python and/or SQL for transformations and automation.
• API integration experience and good grasp of integration design patterns.
• Working knowledge of Azure services such as ADLS, Azure SQL, Key Vault, and Event Hubs.
• Background in a high‑volume operational or analytical environment.
