Data Engineer – Contract Role

About the role

This contract position supports Microsoft through Allegis Global Solutions. You will design, build, and optimise data pipelines on Azure, working closely with senior engineers to deliver reliable ETL/ELT solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using SQL, Python and Apache Spark.
• Implement pipelines on Azure Databricks and Azure Data Factory.
• Assist with Unity Catalog migration and data‑governance tasks.
• Improve existing pipelines for performance, reliability and efficiency.
• Add data‑quality checks, monitoring alerts and troubleshoot production issues.
• Follow established workflow and orchestration standards.
• Document pipelines, write runbooks and operational notes.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience building data pipelines in an agile, production environment.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to debug pipeline failures.
• Familiarity with version control (Git) and collaborative code reviews.
• Exposure to data‑governance frameworks such as Unity Catalog is a plus.
