Data Engineer

About the role

OMNIA® Training is seeking a Data Engineer to support the British Army’s collective training programmes. Working in a matrix organisation, you will report operationally to OMNIA Training and functionally to the Data Lead, helping to shape the future of military training data solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering, simulation, customer, third‑party and training teams to ensure seamless data management and integration across military training environments.
• Implement security controls and governance frameworks to maintain data security and compliance.
• Author, review and contribute to technical documentation.
• Coordinate with cross‑functional engineering teams, including QA, development, operations and business SMEs.
• Assist in designing and implementing scalable, high‑performance data platforms and pipelines.
• Define and enforce data engineering standards, best practices and lifecycle management.
• Optimise data storage, processing and retrieval strategies.
• Drive adoption of modern data technologies such as cloud‑native platforms, streaming and orchestration tools.
• Contribute to data quality, security, compliance and lineage practices.
• Provide technical guidance to data engineering team members and evaluate new tools and frameworks.
