Data Engineer – Microsoft Fabric (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer with deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric to design and deliver the first end‑to‑end data pipeline for a modern data platform. The role is primarily remote, with occasional visits to our Birmingham office to collect equipment and meet stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build a scalable Microsoft Fabric data pipeline, including bronze, silver and gold Lakehouse layers.
• Resolve existing ingestion challenges such as on‑premises gateway and copy‑job issues.
• Create reusable ingestion patterns and pipeline templates for future projects.
• Develop reporting‑ready datasets, semantic models and Power BI visualisations.
• Document architecture decisions, produce runbooks and share best practices with internal teams.

Required profile

• Proven track record delivering data solutions on Microsoft Fabric.
• Strong experience with Fabric Lakehouse, Delta tables and ELT design.
• Extensive SQL knowledge for data modelling and transformation.
• Hands‑on experience with Power BI and pipeline orchestration.
• Ability to mentor and up‑skill team members throughout the engagement.
