Data Engineering Lead

About the role

We are supporting a major financial services transformation programme and need a senior Data Engineering Lead to drive the delivery of a modern, cloud‑based data platform. The role combines strategic technical leadership with hands‑on delivery, working closely with Data Architects, Product Owners and business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead data engineering delivery across multiple workstreams.
• Provide technical guidance and set engineering standards, best practices and governance.
• Design, build and oversee scalable data pipelines and transformation frameworks.
• Collaborate with Data Architects to implement target‑state platform architecture.
• Drive migration of legacy data assets to modern cloud technologies.
• Ensure platforms are robust, secure, scalable and operationally efficient.
• Partner with Product Owners and stakeholders to deliver value‑driven solutions.
• Support architecture reviews, technical governance and mentor engineering teams.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading Data Engineering teams in large enterprises.
• Successful delivery of complex data transformation programmes.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Experience in financial services or regulated environments is preferred.
• Familiarity with agile delivery methodologies.
