Data Protection Lawyer

About the role

We are looking for a specialist Data Protection Lawyer to join a multidisciplinary enforcement team in London. The role focuses on data management and policy issues within complex investigations, ensuring compliance with UK data protection legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality legal advice on data management and related policy considerations.
• Develop and implement data management policies and strategies to meet GDPR, DPA and FOIA requirements.
• Draft guidance for case teams on legislative changes and best practices.
• Collaborate with internal legal and IT experts and engage with external regulators and government bodies.
• Deliver training sessions on data management topics to team members.
• Instruct specialist counsel for complex or high‑risk legal questions.
• Support continuous professional development and update policies and procedures.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor or barrister with at least two years post‑qualification experience.
• Strong academic background and proven experience advising on UK data protection laws.
• Knowledge of current data handling trends, security practices and regulatory developments.
• Experience conducting data impact assessments and legitimate interest assessments.
• Excellent interpersonal and project‑management skills.

• Proficiency with legal research tools and IT applications relevant to data protection.
