Data Scientist – Assistant Manager / Manager (Hybrid)

About the role

This role joins a fast‑growing Simulation & Insights team at the crossroads of data science, AI and decision modelling. You will deliver high‑impact solutions that help organisations optimise operations and shape long‑term strategy, working hands‑on with data and directly with business stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Build, test and deploy data‑science, machine‑learning and simulation models to solve complex business problems.
• Apply advanced techniques such as optimisation, forecasting, statistical modelling and AI.
• Design and implement LLM‑based solutions, including Retrieval‑Augmented Generation, fine‑tuning, prompt engineering and agent‑based workflows.
• Work with large structured and unstructured datasets, writing clean, scalable Python code for production.
• Use platforms such as Databricks and MLflow to manage the full model lifecycle.
• Translate technical outputs into clear, commercially relevant insights for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across data, engineering and strategy.
• At Manager level: lead projects end‑to‑end, mentor junior team members, own stakeholder relationships and contribute to business development.

Required profile

• Strong academic background in a STEM discipline.
• Proven experience delivering data‑science, machine‑learning or AI solutions in a commercial setting.
• Solid grounding in statistics, probability and data analysis.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Python (Pandas, NumPy, SciPy or equivalent).
• Experience with large language models, RAG pipelines, fine‑tuning and agent‑based architectures.
• Proficiency with MLOps tools such as Databricks and MLflow.
• Version control using Git.
• Knowledge of optimisation, forecasting and statistical modelling techniques.
