Data Scientist

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join a fast‑growing, values‑driven consultancy that works on the UK’s most critical public‑sector programmes. You will apply advanced data science and machine learning techniques to high‑stakes government projects, helping organisations make faster, more accurate decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client projects, deliver pitches and presentations, and act as subject‑matter expert.
• Work in scrum‑like, iterative environments to drive innovation.
• Assess client business and technical needs, identify data‑science opportunities, and manage stakeholder relationships.
• Identify and model diverse data sources (unstructured, semi‑structured, structured) for efficient analysis.
• Investigate and analyse data to extract meaningful insights using statistical techniques.
• Communicate technical findings clearly to internal teams and clients.
• Build maintainable code with existing data‑science libraries and develop novel approaches when required.
• Design, evaluate, and implement on‑premises, cloud‑based, and hybrid machine‑learning solutions, including testing, risk mitigation, and production deployment.
• Apply ethical principles in data handling.

Required profile

• 5+ years of industry experience in data science, with a STEM degree.
• Background in consultancy, engineering or data‑focused environments.
• Proven experience leading client delivery across data‑science, data‑engineering and data‑security projects.
• Strong Python programming skills applied to data‑science tasks.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
• Familiarity with CI/CD tooling for code analysis, building, testing and deployment.
• Knowledge of database technologies including SQL and NoSQL.
