Data Scientist – National Role

About the role

Join the Justice Digital, Data and Science team as a Data Scientist on a national basis. You will work within a collaborative Data Science & AI community to turn complex, fragmented data into actionable insight that supports decision‑making across the justice system.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data‑driven tools such as the safety diagnostic system and the Criminal Justice System delivery dashboard.
• Apply machine‑learning, generative AI, natural language processing and semantic‑embedding techniques to solve operational and policy challenges.
• Produce statistical analyses and operational‑research models to inform corporate and front‑line decisions.
• Contribute to open‑source projects like Splink and share best practices across the public sector.
• Work in a hybrid model, balancing remote work with presence at the London office (10 South Colonnade).

Required profile

• Successful completion of a Security Check clearance.
• Relevant experience in data science, preferably within a government or public‑sector environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and communicate technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders.
