Day Shift Supervisor – Janitorial & Waste Services

About the role

We are seeking a Day Shift Supervisor to lead a janitorial and waste removal team at a warehouse site in Wakefield. Reporting to the Site Operations Manager and Senior Supervisor, you will ensure high‑quality cleaning standards and safe waste handling across internal, social and production areas.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a team delivering janitorial services in washrooms, break rooms, canteens, reception, offices, locker rooms and the main production floor.
• Oversee waste segregation, collection and preparation for transportation according to approved streams.
• Provide training on walk‑behind and ride‑on sweepers, scrubber‑dryers and other cleaning equipment.
• Maintain equipment cleanliness, routine maintenance and safe operation.
• Respond promptly to spillages and client call‑outs, ensuring swift resolution.
• Communicate effectively with team members and line management, fostering a collaborative environment.
• Enforce the use of personal protective equipment and compliance with health and safety policies.

Required profile

• Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance or willingness to obtain.
• Understanding of health and safety requirements or willingness to learn.
• High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Reliable, flexible and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
