Day Shift Team Leader

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Day Shift Team Leader to oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of a highly automated continuous process plant in Glasgow. Reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager, you will lead the day‑to‑day activities, work closely with engineering and maintenance, and ensure the plant meets performance, safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, motivate and develop the day‑shift operations team.
• Oversee Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work processes.
• Coordinate maintenance activities with engineering.
• Supervise contractors, ensuring safe and efficient execution.
• Conduct risk assessments and support incident investigations.
• Drive continuous improvement in performance, safety and housekeeping.
• Support planned shutdowns and maintenance outages.
• Ensure compliance with environmental, quality and health & safety standards.
• Manage team training, competency and development.
• Promote a positive safety culture across the site.

Required profile

• Proven experience in operations or engineering leadership within a continuous process, heavy‑industrial or safety‑critical environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coordinate operational and maintenance activities and work within robust HSE systems.
• Confidence managing Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work, supervising contractors and driving high standards.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Engineering qualification (ONC, HNC or equivalent) and IOSH/NEBOSH desirable, or equivalent industry experience.
