DCI CI Operator

About the role

The DCI CI Operator supports Defence Intelligence in understanding and contesting espionage and hostile intelligence threats. Working primarily on‑site, you will deliver high‑quality counter‑intelligence analysis and investigations that inform decision‑making across the Ministry of Defence.

Key responsibilities

• Produce impactful counter‑intelligence outputs, adhering to analytic standards and DI guidance.
• Plan and execute Defence investigations and operations targeting hostile espionage, insider threats, and related risks.
• Develop subject‑matter expertise and maintain situational awareness across the intelligence community.
• Identify intelligence gaps, conduct research, and task collection in line with legislation and policy.
• Apply creative analytical techniques and data‑exploitation methods to meet customer requirements.
• Promote good tradecraft, provide constructive challenge, and build strong relationships with key customers.

Required profile

• Willingness to work on‑site for at least 80% of the working week (37 hours per week, unless part‑time).
• Commitment to the Defence Intelligence mission and its security standards.
• Ability to work within resource and risk parameters while delivering timely intelligence.

Required skills

• Strong verbal and written analytical skills following Professional Head of Intelligence Assessment standards.
• Experience in planning and conducting investigations or operations.
• Research and data‑exploitation capabilities.
• Critical thinking and creative problem‑solving.
