Dealership Accountant – Edinburgh/Dundee/Aberdeen

About the role

John Clark Motor Group is seeking experienced Dealership Accountants to join its finance teams in Edinburgh, Dundee and Aberdeen. Working closely with the Head of Business and Dealer Principal, you will act as a trusted financial partner, supporting the company’s ambitious growth plans across its automotive retail network.

Key responsibilities

• Provide financial leadership by advising senior managers on fiscal policies, performance, margins and overheads.
• Prepare accurate financial accounts, KPIs and regular reports to enable data‑driven decision‑making.
• Manage cash flow, borrowing, liquidity, creditors, debtors and stock to optimise the operating cycle.
• Lead, motivate and develop the on‑site accounts team, ensuring high standards of accuracy and professionalism.
• Maintain internal control systems, protect assets and ensure compliance with data protection and corporate governance.

Required profile

• Resilient, self‑reliant finance professional comfortable in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proven experience as an Accountant or Assistant Accountant, preferably within motor retail or a strong commercial background.
• Strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable advice for non‑financial managers.
• Demonstrated leadership skills and experience managing small teams.
