Delegated Authority Business Partner

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Delegated Authority Business Partner to join a leading specialty insurance firm in London. The role sits within the delegated underwriting function and will be responsible for the end‑to‑end management of coverholder, binding authority and broker arrangements, ensuring compliance with regulatory and commercial standards.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve new coverholder, binding authority and broker agreements.
• Manage complex coverholder applications and liaise with Lloyd’s and other market bodies.
• Renew and oversee existing binding authorities across a range of delegated arrangements.
• Provide guidance on lineslips, consortium arrangements and master policies.
• Partner with underwriting teams to assess delegated authority risks and operational matters.
• Lead oversight activities, acting as escalation point for complex queries.
• Identify and resolve breaches, audit actions and problem cases.
• Monitor quality of work delivered by internal and outsourced teams.
• Produce reporting for underwriting stakeholders and governance forums.
• Drive process improvements, support regulatory changes, new systems and transformation initiatives.

Required profile

• Significant experience in delegated authority, delegated underwriting management or a closely related London market function.
• In‑depth knowledge of coverholder approvals, binding authorities and delegated arrangement renewals.
• Proven ability to handle complex applications and interact with Lloyd’s or other market bodies.
• Strong understanding of FCA, Lloyd’s and broader regulatory requirements for delegated underwriting.
• Confident judgement to approve arrangements and act as a trusted partner to underwriting teams.
