Deputy Head of School – Construction & Motor Vehicle/Motorcycle

About the role

Carshalton College is looking for an ambitious Deputy Head of School to lead the Construction and Motor Vehicle/Motorcycle programmes. Reporting to the Head of School, you will help shape a high‑quality curriculum that meets the needs of learners, employers and funding bodies while delivering an outstanding student experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee delivery of construction and motor‑vehicle courses, including recruitment, enrolment, retention and achievement.
• Support budgeting, performance monitoring and partnership management alongside the Head of School.
• Develop and continuously improve a responsive curriculum aligned with local, regional and national skills priorities.
• Lead quality assurance processes, ensuring compliance with Ofsted, ESFA, safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and health & safety requirements.
• Monitor and report on curriculum outcomes, evidence‑based teaching, learning and assessment.

Required profile

• Relevant professional qualifications and a recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCE, DTLSS, DET).
• Proven experience of leading teams in an educational setting, with strong awareness of regional economic needs.
• Demonstrated ability to plan, budget, resource and monitor curriculum provision.
• In‑depth knowledge of national standards and best practice in curriculum design and delivery.
