Deputy Headteacher – SEND School

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Deputy Headteacher to join a growing specialist SEND school in Gloucester. You will work closely with the Headteacher to drive improvement, support pupils with autism, MLD and SEMH needs, and shape the strategic direction of the provision.

Key responsibilities

• Lead whole‑school teaching and learning initiatives.
• Develop an ambitious, inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all learners.
• Raise standards and improve pupil outcomes through data‑driven strategies.
• Coach, mentor and develop staff at all levels.
• Monitor quality of education via robust quality‑assurance systems.
• Support safeguarding, wellbeing and attendance across the school.
• Build positive relationships with families, external agencies and community partners.
• Contribute to the school’s long‑term strategic vision and growth.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
• Proven track record of leadership and school improvement.
• Strong knowledge of SEND, inclusion and adaptive teaching strategies.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and develop high‑performing teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Commitment to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing.
• Strategic thinking combined with operational leadership.
• Experience in specialist education, SEND or SEMH settings is advantageous.
