Deputy IT Director

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Deputy IT Director to lead the strategic development, transformation and delivery of enterprise applications, data and digital technology services for a complex, multi‑site organisation. This senior leadership position will shape the technology roadmap, modernise core business systems and ensure technology investments deliver measurable operational and commercial value.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and deliver a strategic roadmap for enterprise applications, data platforms, reporting and digital services.
• Lead the transformation and continual improvement of business‑critical applications, driving modernisation, simplification and standardisation.
• Define and implement application development, systems integration and enterprise architecture strategies.
• Oversee data and reporting functions, building modern data platforms, governance and analytics capabilities.
• Manage complex application, digital and transformation programmes, ensuring scope, budget, timeline and benefit delivery.
• Establish governance and portfolio management processes for prioritising enhancements and innovation.
• Collaborate with business leaders to translate operational challenges into technology‑enabled solutions.
• Promote Agile delivery, DevOps, automation and product‑led operating models.
• Lead internal development, support and third‑party delivery teams, fostering a culture of innovation and quality.

Required profile

• Proven senior IT leadership experience in a multi‑site, enterprise environment.
• Strategic vision combined with strong delivery and change‑management capabilities.
• Track record of building high‑performing teams and driving continuous improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence senior business leaders.
