Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Care

About the role

The Hamnet Way is seeking a Deputy Manager to support the leadership of its children’s residential care home in Milton Keynes. This role offers hands‑on management experience, the chance to develop leadership skills, and a pathway towards Registered Manager responsibilities.

Key responsibilities

• Lead shifts and ensure high‑quality, safe care for children.
• Support staff performance, supervision, and professional development.
• Oversee care planning, risk management, safeguarding, and quality assurance.
• Prepare for Ofsted inspections, conduct audits, and drive service improvement.
• Make operational decisions and step in for the Registered Manager when absent.

Required profile

• Experience working in children’s residential care.
• Strong understanding of safeguarding legislation.
• Proven experience leading teams and supporting practice.
• Level 3 Residential Childcare qualification (or equivalent).
• Willingness to work towards a Level 5 Leadership and Management qualification.
• Full UK driving licence.
