Deputy Nursery Manager

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated Deputy Nursery Manager to support the daily operations of our early years centre in North London. You will work closely with the Nursery Manager to maintain high standards of care, safety and educational quality for children aged 0‑5.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Nursery Manager in overseeing daily nursery operations and regulatory compliance.
• Support planning and delivery of age‑appropriate activities that promote development and learning.
• Supervise staff and volunteers, providing guidance, training and performance support.
• Communicate effectively with parents and carers about children’s progress and nursery events.
• Ensure health and safety policies are followed and maintain a safe environment.
• Help organise staff rotas, holiday cover and resource management.
• Manage administrative tasks such as record‑keeping, reporting and compliance documentation.
• Drive nursery vehicles for outings or transport needs when required.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of management experience in a nursery or early childhood setting.
• Strong leadership abilities and experience working directly with children.
• Knowledge of childcare regulations, health & safety standards and safeguarding procedures.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Relevant childcare qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Children’s Care) are preferred.
• Valid driving licence is desirable.
