Deputy Support Manager

About the role

Thera East Midlands is seeking a Deputy Support Manager to join its team in Aston-on-Trent. This full‑time permanent position supports the Support Manager in delivering person‑centred care for people with learning disabilities, while also acting as a role model on shift.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Support Manager in leading and coaching support staff.
• Mentor teams, drive continuous improvement and develop practice leadership.
• Work on the rota, act as a role model of best practice and deputise for the Support Manager when required.
• Support individuals in designing their support plans and maintain accurate records.
• Manage rota schedules, address concerns, conduct audits and ensure compliance with safeguarding, health‑and‑safety and care regulations.
• Promote empowerment, inclusion, rights and independence for service users.

Required profile

• Health and Social Care qualification at Level 3 or above (England) or SCQF 7 or above (Scotland).
• Proven experience supporting people with learning disabilities.
• Leadership or coaching experience (desirable).
• Knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety, and care regulations.
• Excellent communication, decision‑making and leadership abilities.
• Confidence using digital systems such as Excel and care‑planning software.
• Flexible working hours, willingness to travel locally and work across multiple sites.
