Deputy Team Manager – MASH (Children's Safeguarding)

About the role
The Council in Merseyside is looking for a Deputy Team Manager to support its MASH (Multi‑Agency Safeguarding Hub) team in Wigan. This full‑time, temporary role offers a competitive rate of up to £40 per hour and provides a chance to influence safeguarding outcomes for children and families.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Team Manager in leading, managing and developing the MASH team to deliver high‑quality safeguarding services.
- Oversee referrals, information gathering and decision‑making to ensure timely responses to safeguarding concerns.
- Support practitioners in risk assessment, case management and complex safeguarding interventions.
- Collaborate with partner agencies – Police, Health, Education and Early Help – to facilitate information sharing and coordinated decisions.
- Screen, triage and progress safeguarding concerns in line with statutory guidance and internal policies.
- Monitor performance, practice quality and service standards, driving continuous improvement.
- Provide supervision, coaching and professional development for team members.
- Deputise for the Team Manager as required and contribute to service development initiatives.
Required profile
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Minimum three years of post‑qualifying social work experience.
