Design Support Engineer – Electrical (Sheffield)

About the role

Hemiko is looking for a highly flexible, self‑starting Electrical Engineer with building‑services design experience to join the design team as a Design Support Engineer (Electrical) based in Sheffield. The role supports the design and growth of heat‑network infrastructure across the UK and may involve occasional site visits to active construction sites.

Key responsibilities

• Design and detail General & Emergency Lighting, Small Power, Data, Containment and LV Distribution systems, including single‑line diagrams.
• Develop Automatic fire alarm system designs and produce detailed drawings, reports, calculations and specifications for various RIBA stages.
• Survey and evaluate existing building energy systems and coordinate work with engineers from other disciplines.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic engineer with recent experience in electrical design for building services and a strong interest in low‑carbon energy systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, strong technical proficiency and the ability to work collaboratively in multi‑professional teams.
• Motivated to innovate and question conventional design methods while supporting the full project lifecycle.

Required skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Amtech and Dilaux.
• Good knowledge of UK electrical legislation, standards and best practice.
