Design & Technology Teacher (Full‑Time, Sunderland)

About the role

Tradewind Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of an outstanding secondary school in Sunderland for a full‑time Design & Technology Teacher starting September 2026. The role involves teaching across Key Stages 3 and 4 in a well‑resourced department.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging Design & Technology lessons for Key Stages 3 and 4.
• Assess, monitor and support student progress.
• Create a positive, inclusive and productive learning environment.
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement.
• Ensure all practical activities comply with workshop health and safety requirements.
• Contribute positively to the wider school community.

Required profile

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching Design & Technology in a UK secondary school.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Confidence delivering both practical and theory‑based lessons.
• Excellent subject knowledge and passion for Design & Technology.
• Knowledge of workshop health and safety regulations.
• Two professional references covering the last two years.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
