Desktop Support Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Desktop Support Engineer to join a rapidly growing FTSE‑listed international organisation providing professional services solutions. Based at the Sunderland headquarters, you will deliver first‑class end‑user support across global locations and contribute to the development of IT support standards.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line support to colleagues, troubleshooting laptops, phones and meeting‑room technology.
• Configure, deploy and maintain end‑user devices, ensuring assets are up‑to‑date.
• Assist with network connectivity testing and support webinars/meetings.
• Induct and train new joiners and develop user‑training initiatives.
• Document procedures, drive support standards and participate in IT drop‑in days.
• Take part in an out‑of‑hours on‑call rota (one week in four, evenings 6 pm‑10:30 pm).

Required profile

• 2–3 years’ experience in a similar role within a 300‑500 employee environment or MSP.
• Strong exposure to Microsoft technologies and ITSM frameworks.
• Willingness to join the evening on‑call rota.
• Drive, ambition and confidence to communicate across all business levels.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows operating systems.
• Microsoft Office suite.
• ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow, Remedy).
• Asset management and device imaging.
• Basic networking knowledge.

• Salary £30,000 per year plus ~£500 monthly on‑call allowance and ~10% bonus.
