Development Chemist – Aerosols

About the role

Hydrokem Aerosols is seeking a proactive Development Chemist to join its technical team in Birkenhead. You will work on the creation of innovative aerosol products for medical, personal care, household and industrial markets, guiding formulations from concept through laboratory testing to pilot‑scale production.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and optimise aerosol formulations such as sprays, foams and mousses.
• Conduct laboratory tests to evaluate performance, stability and compatibility with propellants and packaging.
• Support scale‑up activities, including pilot trials and transfer to full‑scale production.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and generate technical documentation.
• Troubleshoot formulation, processing or production issues in collaboration with manufacturing, quality and regulatory teams.
• Monitor emerging aerosol technologies, raw‑material trends and regulatory changes.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
• 2–3 years of industry experience in formulation or product development, preferably within aerosols or a related field.
• Hands‑on experience with laboratory testing and formulation optimisation.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work cross‑functionally.
