Development Engineering Manager - BESS

About the role

The Development Engineering Manager will lead technical delivery for utility‑scale battery energy storage projects. Reporting to a senior executive in the Growth & Strategy team, you will shape project strategy from acquisition through financing, construction and operation, working with developers, investors, OEMs and grid stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical due‑diligence for project acquisitions and advanced‑stage development opportunities.
• Review and challenge performance, degradation, CAPEX and OPEX assumptions.
• Manage battery system procurement, including specifications, design criteria and supplier evaluation.
• Provide expert input on grid‑connection assessments and network integration.
• Support planning, permitting and environmental, transport and construction management plans.
• Interface with investors, lenders, technical advisers and engineering consultants during financing processes.
• Evaluate emerging battery technologies and recommend improvements for asset performance and economics.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering utility‑scale BESS projects.
• Strong understanding of technical due‑diligence, procurement and grid integration.
• Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and commercial decision‑making skills.
