Development Executive – Commercial Insurance

About the role

As a Development Executive you will drive new commercial insurance business for a nationally recognised brokerage. Based in Brighton and supported by the West Sussex branch, you will focus exclusively on acquiring SME and mid‑market clients, building a pipeline and converting opportunities into long‑term relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Generate new commercial insurance business through networking, referrals and self‑generated leads.
• Develop and maintain a robust sales pipeline across SME and mid‑market clients.
• Present tailored insurance solutions to prospective clients.
• Collaborate with Account Executives and internal broking teams to ensure smooth onboarding.
• Build lasting relationships with clients, insurers and introducers.
• Achieve and exceed new‑business and income targets.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a Development Executive or New Business role within commercial insurance.
• Strong understanding of commercial insurance products and the UK market.
• Confident, proactive and comfortable working in a target‑driven environment.
• Natural relationship builder with strong presentation and negotiation abilities.
• ACII qualification or working towards it is beneficial but not essential.
