Development Manager - Social Housing

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Development Manager to support the Assistant Director of Development in expanding Westward Housing Group's programme of new homes. This role will play a pivotal part in shaping and delivering strategic growth initiatives for social housing.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with the organisation's strategic plans for growth and asset management.
• Deliver new‑home projects on time, within budget and to agreed quality standards.
• Manage the full project lifecycle from site identification to the end of the defects liability period, working alongside the Project Delivery Manager.
• Oversee procurement of contracts and act as the client throughout the contract period.
• Develop and maintain partnerships with key stakeholders to identify and deliver new housing opportunities.

Required profile

• Degree‑level education.
• Proven ability to lead a small team.
• Experience in housing association new‑build development.
• Understanding of the H.E. Framework and Capital Funding Guide.
• Demonstrated knowledge of residential new‑build property development.
• Track record of delivering large‑scale outcomes quickly.
• Strong stakeholder partnership and relationship‑building skills.
• Effective risk assessment and management experience.
• Analytical and budgetary expertise in assessing property‑based transaction viability.
