Development Underwriter – Commercial Insurance

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Development Underwriter to join a market‑leading MGA specialising in Property and Casualty insurance. Based in Manchester city centre, you will focus on writing new Commercial Combined business across the North of England.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite new Commercial Combined business with premiums ranging from £10,000 to £100,000.
• Develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients throughout the North.
• Identify and pursue profitable new business opportunities.
• Assess risk, set pricing and negotiate terms in line with underwriting guidelines.
• Manage a portfolio of policies and ensure profitable renewal and growth.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Commercial Underwriter within Property & Casualty insurance.
• Strong technical underwriting knowledge and ability to work independently.
• Highly motivated, results‑focused and able to take initiative.
• Excellent analytical and decision‑making skills.
