DevOps Engineer – Cloud Architecture (Hybrid, Poole)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to evolve into a Cloud Architect role, working on secure cloud and software solutions for the national defence sector. The position is based in Poole (Hamworthy) with a hybrid working model, delivering high‑impact programmes in a high‑assurance environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver secure cloud environments that address customer challenges.
• Work across both greenfield and brownfield projects.
• Lead architecture discussions and design exercises.
• Apply DevSecOps and cloud security best practices in high‑assurance settings.
• Build deep customer relationships and collaborate with technical and operational teams.
• Help customers understand, shape, and solve cloud and security challenges.
• Make pragmatic engineering trade‑offs while maintaining strong technical quality.
• Collaborate with customers and partner suppliers to gather and shape requirements.
• Support secure delivery practices across cloud infrastructure, platforms, and engineering teams.
• Promote knowledge sharing, technical leadership, and engineering excellence.

Required profile

• Significant commercial experience as a DevSecOps Engineer, Cloud Architect or similar role.
• Proven track record leading large AWS implementations or migrations in secure or high‑assurance environments.
• Hands‑on expertise designing and building cloud environments for critical workloads.
• Strong understanding of cloud security, DevSecOps, and secure architecture principles.
• Excellent customer‑facing consulting skills and ability to lead architectural discussions.
