DevOps Engineer – Puppet, Terraform & GitLab (6‑month contract)

About the role

This 6‑month contract position is for a DevOps Engineer to join a highly regulated organisation’s infrastructure and platform team in Bristol (hybrid working). You will drive automation, improve platform reliability and support the evolution of a modern cloud‑native, Linux‑based environment.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.
• Support and enhance Puppet‑based configuration management.
• Administer and optimise Linux servers (CentOS/RHEL).
• Implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver secure, scalable platforms.
• Participate in incident management, troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis.
• Contribute to security, governance and compliance initiatives.
• Drive continuous improvement of DevOps practices.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience with Puppet.
• Hands‑on expertise in Terraform.
• Proven experience building GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
• Solid Linux administration background (CentOS, RHEL or similar).
• Experience working in a regulated sector such as financial services, banking, fintech or insurance.
