Dig Team – Utility Civil Works

About the role

Join the Dig Team on the ENW contract to carry out trenching, duct and cable laying, and various excavation tasks for high‑voltage and low‑voltage utility projects. You will work on site, ensuring all works meet HSG47 guidelines and client specifications while delivering a "right first time" approach.

Key responsibilities

• Perform trenching, duct and cable laying, and excavation of joint bays and linkboxes.
• Backfill works in private fields with limited access for grab vehicles.
• Maintain site safety, public welfare and team wellbeing.
• Use Modular Plus/Depotnet smartphone system to record commercial and reinstatement feedback.
• Liaise with Support Services and Street Works teams to manage FPN and Section 74 liabilities.
• Collaborate with the scheduling team to meet programme deadlines.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of site safety and set‑ups.
• Experience working on utility civil projects.
• Customer‑focused attitude with good time‑keeping and housekeeping.
• Full UK driving licence with towing capacity for diggers.
• Relevant certifications such as NRSWRA Operative (deep excavations) and Safe Dig/Cable avoidance accreditation.

Required skills

• NRSWRA Operative – deep excavations (preferred).
• Mini excavator operation (up to 10 tonne).
• Safe Dig / Cable avoidance accreditation (EUSR preferred).
• Manual handling and first‑aid awareness.
• Use of Modular Plus/Depotnet smartphone system.
• Knowledge of HSG47 guidelines.
