Digital Engineer (Roads)

About the role

WSP is looking for an enthusiastic Digital Engineer to join its Roads team across several UK offices. You will work on a variety of highway and infrastructure projects, applying digital and data‑driven techniques to improve design efficiency, quality and carbon performance.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams to deliver innovative highway and infrastructure solutions.
• Produce engineering outputs for projects ranging from access and haul roads for the National Grid to local highway improvements.
• Apply digital automation, AI‑assisted data analysis, and computational tools (e.g., Python, C++, Dynamo) to streamline design and checking processes.
• Develop and maintain reusable digital tools, scripts, templates and documentation to support consistent project delivery.
• Create integrated, data‑driven workflows using Microsoft Azure and the Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).
• Support carbon measurement initiatives through WSP’s Future Ready programme.
• Reduce repetitive manual effort by building data pipelines and model‑driven workflows.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic engineer with a strong interest in digital transformation of infrastructure design.
• Ability to work effectively within multi‑disciplinary and multi‑project environments.
• Willingness to develop expertise in utilities, carbon, digital and drainage domains.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive attitude toward continuous improvement.
