Digital Forensic Investigator – 12‑month Fixed‑Term

About the role

This 12‑month fixed‑term position is based in South West London and offers a salary of £40,000 for a 30‑hour week across four days. You will join a specialist investigations team, supporting complex digital forensic examinations and investigations for intellectual property and digital media offences.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct forensic acquisition, preservation and examination of computers, mobile devices and digital media in line with recognised methodologies.
• Analyse digital evidence and produce clear, structured forensic reports suitable for investigative and legal proceedings.
• Maintain evidential continuity, chain of custody and exhibit handling throughout investigations.
• Provide technical advice, forensic strategies and interpret digital evidence for internal investigators and external law‑enforcement agencies.
• Research emerging technologies, devices and forensic methodologies.
• Contribute to laboratory quality processes and ensure compliance with ISO 17025 and other forensic quality standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on experience conducting digital forensic examinations of computers, mobile devices and digital media.
• Strong understanding of digital evidence handling, chain of custody and exhibit management.
• Experience producing forensic reports to criminal evidential standards.
• Knowledge of UK legislation relevant to digital investigations (PACE, CPIA, RIPA, IPA, Computer Misuse Act, Data Protection).
• Excellent analytical, investigative and problem‑solving abilities.
