Director, Controller – Rebates & Incentives

About the role

The Director, Controller – Rebates & Incentives leads senior accounting activities for the Rebates and Incentives (contra‑revenue) function within Mastercard Europe. Based in London, the role ensures accurate revenue and contra‑revenue accounting across multiple European countries while providing strategic advisory support to the business.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the end‑to‑end accounting treatment of customer agreements, including revenue recognition and contra‑revenue considerations.
• Ensure compliance with Mastercard policies, internal controls and US GAAP.
• Partner with the Global Business Services Centre (GBSC) to guarantee timely and accurate posting of transactions.
• Provide complex accounting advice, challenge treatments and validate journal entries.
• Lead and develop the R&I Controller team, fostering technical expertise and consistent application of accounting standards.
• Collaborate with FP&A, Business Development Finance, Legal, Account Management and Regional Finance on commercial and financial processes.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in revenue accounting, preferably within a large multinational environment.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with a proven track record of delivering projects.
• Leadership experience, including line‑management responsibilities.
• Excellent communication skills to advise senior stakeholders.
