Director - International Employment Counsel

About the role

We are seeking a Director‑level International Employment Counsel to join a fast‑growing medical‑technology company. Based in Hammersmith, you will provide senior‑level legal advice on employment matters across all territories outside the United States, supporting both UK and European operations.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive employment law advice on contracts, policies, restrictive covenants, recruitment, redundancies, exits and litigation.
• Coordinate with and manage external counsel in multiple European jurisdictions.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with UK and European employment legislation, including upcoming reforms such as the Employment Rights Bill.
• Draft, review and negotiate employment agreements, employee handbooks and related documentation.
• Handle employee‑relations issues, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance procedures.
• Partner with HR and business leaders to design and implement compliant policies and procedures.
• Provide training on employment law and best HR practices.
• Oversee external counsel in disputes, audits and investigations.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with a current UK practising certificate.
• Post‑qualification experience in employment law, ideally combining in‑house and law‑firm exposure.
• Strong knowledge of UK employment law and experience with European jurisdictions is preferred.
• Excellent analytical, communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
• Experience managing external counsel and multi‑jurisdictional matters.
