Director of Applied AI

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Applied AI to lead the development and deployment of AI solutions across our composite manufacturing business. You will turn our data advantage into measurable business value, driving improvements in quality, design, tooling and manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the AI strategy and roadmap, reporting directly to the CEO.
• Deliver AI‑enabled predictive quality systems, automated root‑cause analysis and process monitoring.
• Accelerate design cycles by automating repetitive engineering decisions and enabling generative design where appropriate.
• Optimize tooling through AI‑driven tool design, life‑cycle management and intelligent tool‑path generation.
• Increase manufacturing throughput, reduce scrap and predict defects by closing the loop between machine data and process control.
• Build and manage a portfolio of MVPs across design, manufacturing, tooling and quality control.
• Define data architecture in partnership with software and IT teams to support AI across the product lifecycle.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in applied AI or data‑driven product development.
• Track record of shipping AI systems that deliver quantifiable business outcomes.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, especially composite materials, and the ability to translate data insights into operational improvements.
• Experience working with cross‑functional teams including engineering, software, and operations.

Required skills

• AI/ML model development, selection and fine‑tuning.
• Data architecture and engineering for large‑scale industrial data.
• Experience with predictive analytics, generative design, and automated root‑cause analysis.
