Director of Data, Payments

About the role

Monzo is looking for a Director of Data for its Payments team to shape seamless local payment experiences and support the company’s borderless banking ambitions. You will partner with product, engineering and design to modernise the payments infrastructure that powers millions of transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the data strategy for payments, ensuring reliability and scalability.
• Design data products and capabilities that work across geographies, currencies and customer segments.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional squads to embed data insights into product decisions.
• Modernise the underlying data infrastructure to support rapid growth and new market entry.
• Drive revenue and customer growth through data‑informed payment innovations.

Required profile

• Passion for solving ambiguous business problems with analytical rigour.
• Experience leading data teams in a fast‑moving, product‑focused environment.
• Strong ability to work with product, engineering and design stakeholders.
