Director of Finance – European Operations

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Finance to lead the European finance operations of a prestigious US law firm, based in modern offices near Liverpool Street. Reporting to the US‑based CFO, you will oversee a team of around 12 professionals across London and Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Lead European finance operations, managing finance teams across London and the wider region.
• Oversee general ledger, balance‑sheet reconciliations and monthly financial reporting.
• Drive budgeting, forecasting and financial planning in partnership with Managing Partners and Practice Group Leaders.
• Manage treasury, cash flow, working capital, billing and revenue control, acting as COFA for client money procedures.
• Ensure tax and regulatory compliance across the UK and Europe and implement financial system improvements.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant with several years of relevant experience and at least 5 years in a management role within a law firm.
• Extensive experience with Elite 3E or a comparable ERP system and related financial solutions.
• Proven team‑leadership and people‑management abilities, including coaching, mentoring and strong decision‑making.
