Director of Planning – UK Infrastructure Consultancy

About the role

The role offers a senior leadership position within a nationally recognised planning and environmental consultancy. Reporting to senior partners, you will shape the strategic direction of the UK planning practice and drive growth across major infrastructure and development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the strategic vision for the national planning practice.
• Lead business development initiatives to win large‑scale infrastructure, energy, transport, water and housing projects.
• Act as lead director on flagship client assignments, ensuring high‑quality planning advice and robust commercial performance.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including environmental, engineering and design specialists—to deliver integrated solutions.
• Mentor and develop planning professionals, fostering an inclusive, high‑performing culture.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in planning, preferably within an infrastructure or environmental consultancy.
• Demonstrated success in winning and managing complex, multidisciplinary projects.
• Strong client‑facing skills with a track record of building lasting relationships.
• Commitment to developing talent and promoting an inclusive workplace.
